Gift of art honors longtime jackson Hospital doctor

Lewis r. Gayden, MD, recently retired from Radiology Group, PA. His longtime physician partners honored his service with a gift of art to the Jackson Hospital Foundation's Healing Art Collection.

The piece, "Sunlit Fields" by Shirley Esco, is located on the first floor of Jackson Hospital, near the lobby. During his 39 years of service, Gayden served as a staff physician, diagnostic radiologist and member of the Jackson Hospital board of trustees and foundation board.

In 1960, Gayden became the first recipient of the Jimmy Hitchcock Award, an award given to high school athletes who display outstanding . . .

Breast Cancer survivor & new equipment at montgomery hospital

October is "National Breast Cancer Awareness" month. This year marks 25 years of education and empowerment. It's a time when many of you are hearing survivor stories, some are sharing their experiences for the first time. 

Autauga Academy teacher Cheryl Durbin is doing what she loves: teaching.

A Pre-K teacher for eleven years, Durbin is also a four year cancer survivor, after being diagnosed just weeks before the start of the school year in 2007.

Goodbye, back pain?

Steve Sharpe had struggled with chronic back pain until he became one of the first patients to undergo a procedure now available at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Dr. Brad Thomas practices radiology primarily in Montgomery, but also has established an interventional spine practice at ARH.

"We treat patients that have low back pain caused by nerve inflammation," he explained.
